Turkish light Academy Uganda was founded in 1999. The school was founded by the Turkish community with a total of about 45 students in the school at Kansanga in a storage building with only the ordinary level. Turkish light Academy Uganda was transferred to the newly established campus on Lweza – Kigo off Entebbe -Kampala Road(Kajjansi-Munyonyo Highway) in 2003 with the total of about 83 students from senior one to senior four. The school is now located here on the shores of Lake Victoria with the lake view overlooking. At that time, the school fees was a total of 250,000UGX. And currently paying 2,700,000.
Light Academy Uganda began the construction of a gigantic and massive block of hostels meant to accommodate the state of the art hostel facilities for the accommodation of the students. The hostels had the capacity of about 440 students but only 384 below are allowed in the hostel with each hostel accommodation only sixteen students. The completion of hostels was seen and the students were relocated to the new hostel with each hostel of sixteen students. The hostels block comprised of four meeting rooms, two luggage rooms, and a staff quarter for supervisors. The school initially had one hostel but at the moment it has 2. (One for S.1, S.2 & part of S.3 while the other accommodates part of S.3, S.4, S.5 & S.6).
Turkish light Academy Uganda opened the newly constructed bathrooms to complement the existing ones in the hostels with a total of twenty bath rooms and twenty toilets coupled with the showers and flashing systems full installed. Turkish light Academy Uganda started the tiling of the hostel campus and the construction of a vast dining hall that was to seat the increasing population at the school of almost 400 students.
Turkish light Academy Uganda was the 44th in the 2006 Uganda National Exams Board’s results with the best having 9 points in eight subjects. The average passing of the students was 63.3% with 60 students where by 40 hand first grades according to the weekly observer. Turkish light Academy Uganda was the 15th in the overall 2007 Uganda National Exams Board’s results according to the New Visions analysis with an average passing of the students being 73%. Turkish light Academy Uganda was the 12th in the overall 2009 Uganda National Exams Board’s results with the best having 8 point in eight subjects according to the New vision analysis with the average passing of the students being 87.5%.
Turkish light Academy Uganda won a bronze medal and a silver medal in the International Turkish Olympiad that was held in Istanbul-Turkey.
This is an image that was taken when the school had just changed its uniform. The school used to wear white shirts and grey trousers but later in the year the school started wearing red shirts and blue shirts. (This is an assembly where the headteacher is addressing the students of this school. The students in red are in O-level while those in blue are in A-level.) Later in 2010, Light academy nursery and primary was opened in Kampala.

Turkish light Academy changed its name to Light Academy in 2016 due to political reasons.
Light Academy Secondary school has had a series of principles who include Mr. Muhammad, Mr. Nahmed, Mr. Nazarake, Mr. Haki, Mr. Hakkan, Mr. Ahmed Omeroglu, Mr. Kulderg, Mr. Ibrahim, Mr. Tapsiz and finally Mr. Onder who is our principle to date.

PREVIOS CO-CIRRICULAR ACTIVITIES
This school had a beach house which was below the dormitory area. This beach house was free of charge to students. Students would have evening music from the beach house with also some drinks and bites such as bbq's and sodas or juice.
In one of the interviews we conducted, we were told that it was closed because of a challenge faced due to some students escaping from the school premises.
The school used to serve meatballs at lunch but it was stopped because it had become expensive due to the rise in population in the institution.
The school also has various sports which have specific teams that represent the school in them;
- The Rugby team( ISTANBULZ)
- The Basketball team(TURKISH ROCKETS)
- The Football team(TURKISH GIANTS)
ACADEMICS
The school has a history in being an academically gigantic institution because it is always in 100% first grade.
These were the best students for our academic year 2022 for UACE.

This is a group of our students who went for the IMO* International Mathematical Olympiad* and came out as victors with medals and certificates as they lifted our school flag high.
Our own Arinda David who recently was the 7th in the Math Contest emerged as No. 5, followed by Serwanja Victor Remy, and Muganzi Antonio Mugaga. All our boys are among the top 15 students who qualified for Japan round. Congratulations to our dear students.
Light academy also has a culture of appreciating the academic giants of each year. The students are gives a token of appreciation with a certificate.
He proceeded to achieve more in his academics, participated, and was crowned in Contests like the Mathemania Puzzle Contests, Uganda Mathematics Contest, and the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM), which won him awards, and admiration amongst his peers and teachers.
In his O-‘Level (U.C.E Exams), he emerged as one of the best National students with 8 aggregates, and his school was number one in the Country in 2018. This automatically secured him another scholarship for Advanced (A-level).
He sat for his U.A.C.E examination in the 2021 Academic Year (AY 2020) getting 20 points in PCM/ICT, (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and subsidiary computer), despite the COVID-19 pandemic that was ravaging the country at the time.
With all this, he managed to scoop a scholarship to the prestigious university (MIT), through a stringent process starting from application, essay writing, etc.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology is the best university of science and Technology in the whole world.
